Drum Country utilizes its network of Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers, BOCES, and colleges and universities to assist you with workforce training needs.

Assistance to Meet Every Need

One-Stop Centers/The WorkPlace

Our local and state job training programs are organized into an easy to use interactive network that has been created as a "one stop" system. In St. Lawrence County, the one-stop is called the One Stop Career Center, and in Jefferson and Lewis Counties they are called The WorkPlace. Regardless of the name, you will find assistance with the recruitment of new employees, incumbent worker training, on-the-job training, skills assessments, and customized writing programs.

BOCES

The statewide system of Boards of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES) functions as an intermediate arm of the New York State Education Department. Part of the role of BOCES is to maintain adult learning centers and to provide vocational and occupational training through these centers.

St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES and Jefferson-Lewis BOCES training centers offer training in the following fields:

Colleges

The colleges in Drum Country play an important role in training our workforce. SUNY Jefferson Community College, Watertown, is dedicated to workforce training by providing customized contract training, or cooperative training that meets the needs of more than one employer. The college provides workshops and seminars and offers training facilities and web conferencing. SUNY Canton College, Canton, also provides training and workshops to business, industry, and the community.
