Housing

Drum Country offers affordable living and affordable housing in family-friendly communities. In fact, housing costs across the region are consistently lower than those of the US average. There are several programs available across Drum Country to assist with the creation and/or rehabilitation of housing for people with low and moderate incomes.

DID YOU KNOW:

The Development Authority of the North County (DANC) provided $3.2 million in financing from their Community Rental Housing Program (CRHP) to assist Norstar Development USA build 200 units of affordable housing in Watertown. The CRHP was capitalized with funds from New York State, Jefferson County and the Development Authority of the North Country to assist with the population growth associated with the 2005 expansion of Fort Drum. Other projects funded through the CRHP were Carthage Apartments, which received $300,000 to create 40 units of housing in Carthage, and Eagle Ridge, which received $3 million to create 354 units of housing in Calcium.
